World Fitness Project Grand Park 2026: dates, format and favorites

Aimee Cringle competing at the 2026 CrossFit Games. Upcoming participant at the World Fitness Project Grand Park

From August 28 to 30, Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield, Indiana (USA) hosted the second stop of the 2026 World Fitness Tour. It was the second-to-last stop before the World Fitness Finals in Copenhagen this December, and one of the standout dates on the functional fitness calendar this summer.

What is the World Fitness Project

The World Fitness Project (WFP) is one of the functional fitness competitions that has gained the most traction on the international circuit in recent years. Its 2026 season is structured in three phases: online qualifiers, two Tour Stops (in-person events), and the season-closing Finals.

The first stop of the year took place in May in London. Grand Park was the second and final stop before the grand finale in Copenhagen.

WFP Grand Park Pro format

Tour Stop 2 brought together three divisions:

  • Pro Men and Pro Women: 50 athletes per division, made up of Signed Pros and athletes who qualified through the online qualifier.
  • Elite Teams: teams of 4 athletes, up to 20 qualified teams.
  • Project 1: the division open to community athletes, who competed on the same field as the pros.

The scoring system is cumulative: each WOD awards up to 100 points to the winner, with the rest scoring on a descending scale based on placement. Points accumulate across the whole season, and the top 30 athletes with the most combined points after both Tour Stops earn their spot at the World Fitness Finals in Copenhagen, December 17-20.

Grand Park Pro winners

James Sprague and Emma Tall took the win at Grand Park Pro. The event was overshadowed by a wave of injuries: several athletes pulled hamstrings during the 40 Yard Dash in Event 1, Pat Vellner tore his Achilles during the Flip Sled event, and Roman Khrennikov, who was leading the 10K run, had to withdraw with a calf injury just 500 meters from the finish line.

Season standings after Grand Park

With both Tour Stops now complete, this is how the top of the season leaderboard looks heading into the World Fitness Finals in Copenhagen:

Men's standings

  1. James Sprague 🇺🇸 - 1016 pts (Grand Park Pro winner)
  2. Tudor Magda 🇺🇸 - 943 pts
  3. Aniol Ekai 🇪🇸 - 864 pts
  4. Jack Farlow 🇨🇦 - 779 pts
  5. Ty Jenkins 🇺🇸 - 768 pts

Women's standings

  1. Aimee Cringle 🇬🇧 - 1057 pts (London Pro winner)
  2. Laura Horvath 🇭🇺 - 1040 pts
  3. Emma Tall 🇸🇪 - 1022 pts (Grand Park Pro winner)
  4. Andrea Solberg 🇳🇴 - 839 pts
  5. Oda Lundekvam 🇳🇴 - 773 pts

The top 30 men and women on this combined leaderboard have secured their spot at the World Fitness Finals in Copenhagen, December 17-20.

CrossFit Games champions on the WFP floor

What made this Tour Stop special is that two of the biggest names in the field competed as reigning CrossFit Games champions. James Sprague claimed his second world title this summer in San Jose, and Aimee Cringle did the same in the women's field, dominating from start to finish. Sprague went on to win Grand Park Pro outright.
